Certainly when mentioning or hearing about soccer teams or anything related in general to this sport, we associate it more with the male gender. This is due to the intervention of women’s soccer over the years, which at the beginning of its path had little recognition and support, however, at present, the participation of women is gaining strength, becoming more and more popular. As a result, they now receive more media attention, attract more investors and sponsors, and reach more viewers in the sports sector.
Achieving a growing culture of women’s soccer and inspiring girls and young women to begin to look up to female athletes and seek to become professional soccer players in the future.
For this reason, in support of women’s involvement in soccer, the program has held a series of camps, activities and training sessions with teams of boys and girls from different parts of the world. We have even invited and formed a women’s team, so that they can participate in different tournaments and live the experience of learning the methodologies of Spanish soccer.
Some of our most outstanding interventions are the following:
- In 2010, in Jamaica, through our campus/camp program in collaboration with Valencia Club de Futbol, we sought to teach the club’s methodologies to the young people who participated in the event. As a reward for their dedication and effort, the best players were selected to be invited to experience European soccer at our facilities.
- In 2018, we have an Icelandic group participating in our student body. During their stay with us, the girls received high-level training with the men’s team, which allowed them to gain more experience in the game, participate in different tournaments, receive the hybrid and personalized education that we offer and enjoy the recreational areas of our residence in Puzol.
- A year later, in Saudi Arabia, the first girls’ campus was held in collaboration with a local soccer academy. Our collaboration with the academy lasted three seasons. Our collaboration with the academy lasted three seasons. However, in the following seasons, we were able to host a group of girls in our facilities who were selected to live the TNGS experience for two weeks. During their stay with us, they learned to improve their playing skills by training with people at a higher level and received the same training as the men, thus eliminating gender differences in our soccer education programs. They also received Spanish classes and had the opportunity to train with local soccer teams.
- Also, in support and dissemination of the female culture of this sport, we have counted with the participation of Iris Centeno, who is the first woman to be appointed head coach of a national women’s soccer team in Belize. Centeno spent one season at TNGS and gained knowledge in professional Spanish soccer methodology and acquired personal skills that will allow him to develop and manage soccer teams in his career.
At TNGS we support and continue to create a culture of gender equality in the world of soccer because we believe in the development of the professionalization of this sport for women and in the elimination of the negative social gap in this sector. Since the actions we are taking in the organization make these expectations come true and the future of soccer will be a sport that offers equal opportunities for both women and men.
